Local Pain Spots

Trigger point therapy focuses on local pain spots. An Acupuncture needle is used to stimulate the muscle to contract and eventually relax. If you don’t have time for a full acupuncture treatment, trigger point therapy can work quickly for muscles spasms, knots, and tight areas where an elbow just isn’t deep enough.

Needles are not kept in as long as a regular acupuncture treatment but you can still get a significant reduction in pain. Typically the needles is used to stimulate the troubled muscle for a few minutes. A good response is when the muscle grips, tightens, flexes in response to the stimulation. Once this is achieved, the needle may be retained for a few minutes to help reinforce the relaxation and reduce inflammation.
